I captured the moment
when you first smiled at me
i'll cherish it as a treasure
together forever, we will be
when you first held me tight
i'll face every fear
for you, i will fight
i captured the moment
when your lips collided with mine
as long as i think of you
i'm sure i'll be fine
i captured the moment
when you stood by my side
you broke down my wall
now, i don't have to hide
i'll capture every moment
for it is priceless
we'll have lots of memories
and live our lives to the fullest
It's Valentine's week and we found just the right pick today! It's the fotografo's pick and we present to you Jill A. Brown. She's a photographer by heart and by profession. You can find more her work on flicker and her blog but first here's today's picks!
"It's the moment that counts... being in love is wonderful, but to be able to capture it, it's magical"
About Jill ..
"My work is a reflection of everyday life and places. I chose the medium of photography as a tool to capture the essence of the person or place. I create images to depict the subject as they are remembered in the mind. Not posed or unnatural, but as a window into the intimate world of the subject.
I grew up near St. Louis, Missouri and spent my childhood exploring the creeks, fields and woodlands near and around my hometown. I have over 15 years of experience in the field of photography and have studied photography at both Missouri State University and Maryville University, St. Louis. My love of the outdoors and family are the inspiration of much of my work.
Currently, I live in Urbandale, Iowa where I continue to find inspiration in the places and people in and around my community. I am supported by a family of three beautiful daughters, three dogs and loving husband of over 12 years."
Chit-Chat with Jill ..
Q : You've been involved in photography for more than 15 years. Why did you choose this profession in the first place?
A : I fell in love with photography in grade school. I used my mom's point and shoot camera to take photos of all kinds of things. I loved being able to capture the world around me in a perspective that most people don't see. I loved being able to share that with the world. When I entered high school, I was lucky enough to have a complete working darkroom at the high school where I learned many of the basics of manual camera operations and film/print development. I continued my education through college and majored in Fine Art Photography. This education opened up my mind to a whole world of creative photography and I've been loving it ever since!
Q : How do you capture the photos in weddings? Do you set the arrangements on how should it be viewed or it's just candid?
A : When I photograph weddings, I try to capture many moments as they happen. With wedding photography, you need to be able to anticipate the moment that is about to happen and be there ready to capture that moment. Sometimes when I am working with the couple or the bridal party, I may arrange the couple or group and may give them a subtle suggestion but then tell them to take it from there -- to be spontaneous and in the moment!
Q : You have captured images of your children in an artistic form. Does you children love photography?
A : My children have grown up around the camera and love to have their photo taken. My children do love photography and have a great appreciation for art in general. They are all very creative and some of them have expressed interest in learning the art of photography. I love to share my knowledge with them and help them to see their world in a creative way.
Q : When was the best moment in your photography field?
A : My best moment in the field of photography. That is actually a tough one as there have been so many. I guess if I were to narrow it down, I would have to say when my photography professor in college (and now very good friend) asked me to start a wedding and portrait photography business with her. At that moment the idea of moving my photography in the direction of wedding and portrait photography hadn't even crossed my mind as I was focusing on fine art photography at that time. I don't think that I would be where I am today with out her.
Q : Tell us about you in 1 word.
A : Me in one word: Inspired
